Inlanta Mortgage President Installed as President of WMBA

Inlanta Mortgage is pleased to announce its President Nicholas DelTorto was installed as the president of the Wisconsin Mortgage Bankers Association (WMBA) on Friday, June 14.

The new officers and board of directors, along with general membership and guests, attended an installation breakfast and meeting at Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee, with several Inlanta employees attending to support DelTorto.

The guest speaker was Secretary Peter Bildsten of the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions (DFI). Secretary Bildsten spoke on a variety of topics relevant to the mortgage industry, including how well the housing market is doing in Wisconsin and the high quality of mortgage originations in Wisconsin compared to those of the nation. He also touched on regulation and licensing updates, including how the DFI is working with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on consumer complaints and audits.

“I am honored to be a part of the leadership team at the WMBA and look forward to working to accomplish the goals and initiatives set by the organization,” President Nicholas DelTorto said. “The WMBA had a great year under past President Dave Rouse’s leadership. The work of the executive committee has set the stage for improved membership value and a more active membership voice on the federal and state issues. During my term I am committed to continuing the standards that have been set by WMBA.”

Along with DelTorto, John Inzeo was installed as secretary/treasurer and Marcia Howe was installed as president-elect for the 2013-2014 term.

Mortgage Rates on Six Week Streak

Fixed mortgage rates climbed higher amid a solid employment report for May. Since beginning their climb last month, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage has increased over half a percentage point. Regardless, mortgage rates are coming off their all-time record lows, which is helping to keep homebuyer affordability high.

30-Year Fixed Rate Mortgages

According to Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS) average 30-year fixed rate mortgages moved up to 3.98 from 3.91 percent last week. Last year at this time the 30-year FRM averaged 3.71 percent.

15-Year Fixed Rate Mortgages

Average 15-year fixed rate mortgages rose to 3.10 percent from 3.03 last week. Last year at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 2.98 percent.

5-Year Adjustable Rate Mortgages

The average five-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) moved up to 2.79 percent from 2.74 percent last week. A year ago, the 5-year ARM averaged 2.80 percent.

1-Year Adjustable Rate Mortgages

The average one-year Treasury-indexed ARM held at to 2.58 percent this week. Last year at this time, the 1-year ARM averaged 2.78 percent.

“Fixed mortgage rates crept up further this week following a solid employment report for May. The economy added 175,000 new jobs and the number of discouraged workers fell by 780,000 to the fewest since September 2009. And although the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.6 percent, it was due to a 420,000 increase in the size of the labor force; the underemployment rate fell from 13.9 to 13.8 percent in May.

With the ongoing run up in fixed mortgage rates, adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs) are becoming more popular among homeowners looking to refinance and for home purchasers. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate this week is 0.6 percentage points above the recent low set over the week ending May 2nd. In comparison, the share of conventional mortgage applications for ARMs rose from 13 percent of dollar volume at the beginning of May to 17 percent last week, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.”

Confidence in Housing Market Spikes

The number of Americans who believe now is a good time to sell and think now is a good time to buy rose sharply from April to May according to recent housing market survey by Fannie Mae.

Confidence in Housing Market

Confidence in the housing market spiked in May. The share of respondents who say now is a good time to sell jumped 10 percentage points in May, rising from 30 to 40 percent on a monthly basis, according to the results of Fannie Mae’s May 2013 National Housing Survey. The share of those who say it is a good time to buy a home moved up 5 percentage points from April to a survey high of 76 percent. Americans’ average 12-month home price change expectation also reached a survey high in May, climbing to 3.9 percent from 2.7 percent in April.

American Legion Unveils New Memorial

New Veteran Memorial at American Legion Post

The American Legion Post 71 unveiled the Pewaukee American Legion Veteran Memorial this past Memorial Day. Veterans, their families, their loved ones, and the community lined up to witness the to unveiling of the Veteran Memorial, including Congressmen Jim Sensenbrenner.

Commemorating Our Veterans

According to the Pewaukee American Legion’s website, the commemorating of our Veterans has been taking place since the Grand Army of the Republic started memorializing the fallen shortly after the Civil War. Over the past sixty years the Pewaukee American Legion has sponsored the Memorial Day Parade that includes several stops at Veteran Memorials through the Village of Pewaukee in Wisconsin. This has long been the traditional parade for many to help memorialize the Veterans in their lives.

Due to generous donations of from the public and local businesses in Southeastern, Wisconsin, the long standing fixture has been rehabilitated. Inlanta President Nicholas DelTorto was proud to attend the event as a sponsor and the son of General Nicholas DelTorto of the U.S. Army, who served from 1942-1980. Nick welcomed to the opportunity to support the Pewaukee Legion’s efforts to rebuild the Veterans Memorial and also arranged for a commemorative brick to be installed in honor of his father.

Mortgage Rates Continue to Climb

Fixed mortgage rates climbed higher for the fifth consecutive week on concerns the Federal Reserve may slow its bond purchases amid a strengthening economy. This marks the first time the average 15-year fixed-rate mortgage has gone above 3 percent since the week of May 24th of last year.

30-Year Fixed Rate Mortgages

According to Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS) average 30-year fixed rate mortgages moved up to 3.91 from 3.81 percent last week. Last year at this time the 30-year FRM averaged 3.67 percent.

15-Year Fixed Rate Mortgages

Average 15-year fixed rate mortgages rose to 3.03 percent from 2.98 last week. Last year at this time, the 15-year FRM averaged 2.94 percent.

5-Year Adjustable Rate Mortgages

The average five-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) moved up to 2.74 percent from 2.66 percent last week. A year ago, the 5-year ARM averaged 2.84 percent.

1-Year Adjustable Rate Mortgages

The average one-year Treasury-indexed ARM fell slightly to 2.58 percent this week from 2.54 last week. Last year at this time, the 1-year ARM averaged 2.79 percent.

“Continuing market concerns that the Federal Reserve may slow its bond purchases
amid a strengthening economy added upward pressure on mortgage rates this week.
In its June 5th regional economic conditions report, known as the Beige
Book, the Federal Reserve noted that overall economic activity increased at
a modest to moderate pace over April and May in all its districts except for
Dallas which indicated strong economic growth. In addition, pending
home sales rose in April to its fastest pace since April 2010 and May’s consumer
sentiment was revised upwards to its highest reading since July 2007.”
